Understanding Protection from Abuse (PFA) Orders in Pennsylvania

Image
A Protection from Abuse (PFA) Order is a legal measure in Pennsylvania designed to safeguard victims of domestic violence. It can mandate no-contact orders, remove the abuser from a shared home, and include children in the protection. Temporary PFA orders last for 10 days, leading to a hearing for a permanent order, which can last up to three years. Legal representation is crucial for both petitioners and those accused to navigate the complexities of the court system and effectively present or defend their case. Consulting an experienced attorney like Kathryn Roberts ensures proper guidance and protection throughout the process.

Are you a veteran in need of legal assistance?

Over the years, I’ve encountered many veterans who’ve faced legal challenges after their service. Often, these issues stem from conditions like PTSD, depression, and anxiety—legitimate mental health diagnoses that can manifest long after active duty. Addiction is another prevalent issue among veterans, frequently leading to criminal charges such as DUI, domestic violence, drug possession, trespassing, and transiency. Though I’ve never served in the military myself, I hold immense respect for those who have. If you have a general, medical, or honorable discharge, I am committed ...

Drivers can also be charged with a  DUI violation  even if their blood alcohol content is less than 0.08% and even if the police did not draw any blood at all. Underage driving is subject to certain different rules and has a lower alcohol content. ARE DUI LAWYERS NEAR ME GOING TO HELP ME?

Image
When someone is charged with a DUI, they often ask “are DUI lawyers near me going to help me?” Well, break that down. First, there are good and bad lawyers everywhere. But, are you better off trying to get a local DUI lawyer near you than from somewhere else? Always! A local DUI attorney will be able to accurately predict exactly the process in the preliminary hearing, the expectations of the District Attorney and areas where negotiation with the District Attorney is possible (and not possible), plus whether particular legal challenges will work with the particular judge that handles DUI cases in that county. An attorney that is not local will not know any of those things.
