How can the police prove drunk driving?
What is driving under the influence or DUI?
In Pennsylvania, drivers 21 and older are prohibited from driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher. It is also illegal to drive under the influence of certain controlled substances, including marijuana, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and many mental health medications like Xanax, Zoloft, and Paxil.
Drivers can also be charged with a DUI violation even if their blood alcohol content is less than 0.08% and even if the police did not draw any blood at all. Underage driving is subject to certain different rules and has a lower alcohol content.
